Dr. Richard Aufderheide has practiced clinical periodontics and implant dentistry since 1994. His specialized interests include the placement of dental implants, regenerative bone grafting and gingival tissue procedures for smile enhancement.
Dr. Aufderheide’s formal education and training started with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from Xavier University in 1988. He then earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1992. Following dental school, Dr. Aufderheide completed a two-year Dental Surgery residency as Chief Resident at University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio. Staying in Cleveland, he then completed a three-year Periodontal and Implant Surgery residency at the Case Western Reserve University of Dental Medicine. During this residency, he was appointed Chief Resident and concurrently completed a research based Masters Program. Dr. Aufderheide was awarded a Masters in Periodontal Microbiology (MSD) in 1997.
”Rick” lives on Kent Island with his wife and two children. Outside Dentistry, he enjoys restoring older vehicles, welding, metal fabrication and refurbishing vintage neon signs and clocks.
